BB delivers

I should start by saying that yes, I am a BB fan. As a full fledged punk/goth in Detroit during the 80's, I got a free ticket to his concert with Al B. Sure and New Edition and figured "why not go?" and had a blast. He was such a dynamic performer...and that made me a fan to this day. I've followed his career through music, TV, and the tabloids, and I always thought he got the short end of the stick with the media--but it's clearly true when you read the tragedies he's suffered throughout life.

BB delivers the goods: he holds nothing back on his drugs, drinking, bad boy days, crimes, jail time, Whitney, his daughter, and everything in between. It's all in there, and many blanks are filled. He also gives his personal insight to what he was thinking at certain times in his life when the rest of us were wondering just WHAT he was thinking. He even explains the whole Whitney funeral debacle and why he left during the service, and you realize the media did portray it in a skewed light when his reasoning is really very sensible. Now I'm sure some people will argue that it's one sided (duh, it's an autobiography) and of course he'll try to make himself look better....but now that others are corroborating many of his tales in the media (i.e. Whitney's brother finally saying it was he, not BB, who introduced her to drugs), we realize he really did get the short end of that stick during his Whitney days.

That's not to say that he didn't make some huge mistakes--he acknowledges them freely and takes responsibility for most (though there are spots here and there where he makes excuses for certain things rather than taking the reigns on them, but that's OK). In the end, you realize he's just a guy like anyone else, trying to make their way.

Fab read, totally worth the purchase.

Definitely spoke truth

Yes! He has finally told his story much of what we know to be true. People giving this one star and saying he is self serving never liked or will ever like him so pot calling kettle. The Book was very well written and The Break Up chapter was total mind blowing he cast all reservations to the wind and just spoke from his heart. He still protecting her, there are so many OTHER less flattering stories he could've divulged but he didn't. Weeks in Cracks houses, and the sex parties in the home so he was very respectful.

I wish he and his family nothing but the best in the future I also wish the Houston the best and maybe if they read this with an open mind and accept their part the tragedies would cease. You have two other sibling as well as the Daughter in Law fighting substance abuse. This Young Man owned his part in the mess and appears to still be beating himself up about it.

So good to hear Bobby's side of the story. I enjoyed this book. Every page had some very interesting stories. I thought he kept his story about Whitney very tasteful and respectful. I'm sure there was a lot more dirt he could have put in his book, but he chose to take a different route about his feelings. It was just enough for me to get the picture though. Thanks for sharing your story.

This was a delightful story about unrequited love on both the parts of the man and the woman.

Gabe Corbin had been in love with Andrea Bauer since he interviewed her for he job, likewise Andrea fell in love with Gabe in the same interview. But Bret Weyland led Gabe to believe that he and Andrea were living together, because they went out one time, and Bret fell for Andrea.

Gabe decided because he couldn't have Andrea he was going to sale his company and go back home to make peace with his family.

But Andrea had at the same time made up her mind, since she couldn't have Gabe, she would have a hystrectomy because she had endometriosis and if she didn't have a baby within 6 months she would never have a child.

She told Gabe becaues she had to tell him why she was leaving his company.

Gabe now that he knew Andrea wasn't living with Bret, he hoped he would have a chance to make her love him. So he asked Andrea to marry him. She concented, hoping she could make him love her.

Gabe went home, taking his now wife Andrea with him.

Gabe found out because of Andrea that he had not gotten this girl pregnate at the age of 16. When he left home at the age of 16.

Gabe found out that she had was malested by her uncle and she was pregnate. He also found out that his mother had left because of the same woman who tried the get her daughter to claim Gabe was the father of her child, she told Gabe's mom about the loan Gabe's father had got from her father. And broke up their marriage thinking she might have a chance with Gabe's dad once he and his wife were no longer together. But it didn't work out, so she got back at him by making trouble with Gabe and his dad.

Andrea found out and she told Gabe, Gabe told his grandfather, who told his father.

Gabe and Andrea were busy trying to make a baby.

Finally Gabe told Andrea how he felt, and he told Andrea he knew she loved him. She admitted she did and they got married again this time by a priest and that made it right.

Gabe's mom and dad got remarried too.

The rabbit hole is in Mexico and it is a well known fact that although this country is magnificent it is also a complete disaster.

I personally enjoyed this book considerably. The Japanese references, the boy's obsession with hats, and his own personal living arrangement made the story rather engaging. However, I will say that I wanted to knock the protagonist upside the head from time to time, but overall, it was a decent piece.

As the summer of 1914 drew to a close, it was difficult for a 16 year-old schoolboy to realize that the world for which he had been prepared at Clifton College was itself preparing for war. By 1916, he was commissioned in the Royal Field Artillery. By June 1917, he was at the Ypres Salient, getting his "baptism" at Hell Fire Corner in an intensive artillery duel that formed the prolog to Passchendaele itself. Early in 1918, his battery would fight a series of rearguard actions near Baupaume that would help turn the tide of the massive German Spring offensive. Huntly Gordon has given us an enduring and classic memoir: a poignant and extraordinarily human account of history as it happened.

About the Author
Huntly Gordon was educated at Clifton College and joined the army in 1916. After the war he studied medicine before going to China with Shell Oil. Returning in 1926, he joined London Transport, spending much of his spare time surveying archeological sites with Sir Mortimer Wheeler. During the Blitz, he initiated food trains for the thousands sheltering in the Underground, and was awarded an MBE. He died in 1982. Born in 1956, David Gordon is Huntly Gordon's youngest son. Educated at Sherborne and Sandhurst, he has been a soldier, parliamentary researcher, and county councilor.

The Unreturning Army

"The Unreturning Army" is a personal account of what it was really like to be an Officer in the British Artillery, mainly at Passchendaele, Belgium in 1917.
The book is extremely well written and spares no detail of how absolutely obscene the Great War was for a whole generation of young men from Britain and its Colonies and Germany.
Any World War One historians wanting to build on their understanding of the conflict should get hold of a copy of this little book.

This is a must read for anyone interested in WWI, whether for study or family research. It gives an extraordinary insight into the horrors of trench warfare, the class system of the time, and the resilience of the Britisher's "stiff upper lip". Well worth republishing this best-seller in time for the upcoming anniversary.

Fascinating Triology of 3 very different brothers

I read the original triology when it first was published. Couldn't wait for the next book to be published. Same truth with the cassetts but listening to the story was even better. Elaine Small

Chesapeake Blue

It's difficult to come up with more superlatives for one of the greatest writers of our time. I read Chesapeake Blue before I knew there is a series of Quinn Brothers novels. Now, of course, I will go back and start at the beginning. Already, I can see that this must become a miniseries on one of the major television networks. And when it does, Sam Elliott absolutely has to play Cam. I just can't see any other actor in that roll. Nora writes in a manner that makes the reader believe they are right there in the room where the story is taking place. Thank you Nora for writing so many wonderful books. A lot of them I have yet to read but it makes me happy to know that I've got so much good reading to look forward to.
