BEST BOOK ON HEALING EVER!

This is a practical introduction to the technique of mental and spiritual treatment. As a healer in training, this is the best book on the subject that I've read. Not only that, it also provides clear answers to a whole lot of questions I've had on a variety of metaphysical questions. For example, it explains in a clear and understandable way the qualities of and relationship between spirit, mind and matter. It furthermore provides welcome insights on universal healing principles and how to build a strong faith. As I was reading it for the first time, I found myself looking at the original publication date (1941) in total disbelief. Way back then, the author knew all the basics of what today is called PNI and NLP and much more besides. This should be on every healer's bookshelf and will be valuable to all searchers after truth and all those who are interested in metaphysics.

This book encompasses everything written by all others - it is truly amazing. Written in 1941 originally, it seems to be what other writers have read and pulled from. It is life-changing. Must be read over and over. Each time a new light emerges and a change is made. Keep it by your bedside.

About the Author
Benjamin Pierce received a BS in Biology from Southern Methodist University and a PhD from the University of Colorado, USA. Ben is currently Professor of Biology and holder of the Lillian Nelson Pratt Chair at Southwestern University, Georgetown, TX. He is a population geneticist who conducts ecological and evolutionary research on amphibians. Ben has authored a number of articles in research journals and several books, including: The Family Genetics Sourcebook, a guide to genetics for the layperson; Genetics: A Conceptual Approach, a general genetics textbook; Genetics Essentials: Concepts and Connections, a brief genetics textbook; and Transmission and Population Genetics: A Short Course, a textbook for courses in transmission and population genetics. Ben is a member of the steering committee of the 21st Century Science Coalition, a group of scientists who support strong science standards for Texas public schools. He is the President of the Texas Academy of Science, is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Sigma Xi, and is a Fellow of the Texas Academy of Science. He currently serves on the editorial board of Bioscience. He has received research and teaching grants from the Natural Science Foundation, the W. M. Keck Foundation, the 3M Foundation, the National Park Service, the Williamson County Conservation Foundation, and the National Geographic Society.

Easy to comprehend and very helpful in class. Gives all information needed to get a great grade in your class and can serve as a reference for more than just Genetics. Easy read. Very helpful real-world discussions as well within most, if not all, chapters. Would recommend this book to anyone who needs reference on Genetics.

I really love reading this book. I am taking an UG upper division genetics course and it does a great job at explaining the concepts. However, there are pieces missing on full concepts as far as with Ch. 12- Ch. 13, and my professor clarifies the topics, but the book could do a better job. Overall, though, I have enjoyed learning this topic from this book and the figures are essential to understanding each concept.

Personally I would have preferred just the facts of the studies that were done and some interpretation. The author uses real life drama to illustrate his points. Some of that might be fun for many readers. All in all it helps explain some facets of human sexual behavior that remain a mystery to many people.

A Superb learning Text for SketchUp as Applied to Woodworking!

I used to use high end 3-D CAD software on my job. When I retired I wanted a replacement that didn't cost a bundle. I tried using the free program SketchUp but the tutorials were not easy to follow or apply to hobby woodworking. I decided to make one more try and went looking for a good book. Thankfully I stumbled onto this one, and it is superb. Exactly geared to learn and master the software for the amateur or more advanced craftsman. The step by step instruction builds and challenges the student, and the format makes it simple to go back and retread the parts that need reinforcement. Excellent from every perspective. If CAD for woodworking is what you want, you must get this book!

A great way to learn the ways and workings of SketchUp even if you are not a woodworker.

This book is well calibrated for new SketchUp users of normal intelligence and is a great follow on to the four "Getting Started" videos posted on the SketchUp learning center website.

Until recently there have not been many good books on SketchUp, so I learned the program primarily from YouTube, but I sure wish I had this book four years ago when I started out. It would have saved hours of frustration. Mr. Zeh has written an outstanding guide to the program, giving the beginner and even more advanced users valuable advice on how to configure the workspace, and manage the workflow as well as how to draw.

Mr. Zeh provides a brief introduction, and then, in chapter one, gives thorough instructions on how to download and install the program. He guides you through setting up the workspace and tool bars for efficient work. His instructions work with the free and the pro versions of SketchUp 2014, 2015, and 2016, so no worries about whether your software matches the book. This book is written for the Windows version, but the differences between it and the Mac version are slight, so no worries there either.

Chapter 02 gives a concise explanation of most of the tools in SketchUp and is a section I keep bookmarked for reference. I've filled it with sticky notes and marginalia, but it is probably not a chapter you will read from beginning to end.

Part 2 of the book contains 7 chapters that guide the reader through the drawing of a simple bedside table. Each chapter focuses on a different component of the table and each component is used as a vehicle for teaching more and better techniques, so that while you might have already discovered better and faster ways to perform a particular task, it makes sense to follow his instructions. Likely you will learn something new.

Chapter 03 is crammed full of information and work habit training which will convert you from a halting beginner, hashing your way through a drawing project, to a quick and confident draftsman. Readers with SOME SketchUp experience may bridle a bit at the painstaking ways he has you draw four simple table legs, but in later chapters, it suddenly becomes clear why he took such pains as the program begins to sing for you. It is the most challenging chapter in the book, but once you are through it, you will know a huge fraction of the things you need to know to draw efficiently, and the remaining chapters will go quickly.

Chapter 04 proceeds with the aprons and drawer rails of the table and introduces the drawing techniques to create them. The following chapters bring in additional components and the additional techniques you need to draw them. In the end, you get a set of accurate measured drawings you can take into the shop.

My recommendation? Order this book today and then go to the SketchUp website and download the program. While you are waiting for this book to arrive, work through the four "Getting Started" videos on the SketchUp website. This will leave you primed and raring to go when Mr. Zeh's book arrives.

When the book does arrive, read chapter one and set up your workspace as instructed. Skim Chapter 2 and relate the contents to what you learned from the videos. Then, step away from the computer, sit down, and read chapter 3 all the way through. After that, go back to the computer and complete each of the drawings. If you make mistakes, don't sweat it. Electrons are cheap, so start a new file and give it another go.

Mr. Zeh suggests that once you complete each chapter, go back and redraw until you can complete the drawing from memory. I think that is great advice. It took me a couple of hours to get through Chapter 2 the first time, about 15 minutes the second, and under five the third time. Subsequent chapters went much faster and while I have not yet finished the book, I am drawing much faster and I am able to create much more complex forms quickly and with confidence.

I am currently teaching an introduction to SketchUp to my middle school shop students and once I had this book in hand, I substantially rewrote the curriculum and greatly raised my expectations of what I expected them to learn in a 4 weeks. I think adults who learn from this book will be able to nail SketchUp to the floor in maybe two long weekends.

Watching a master designer at work

As a woodworker who has used Sketchup to design products such as chests, tables, shelving, built-ins, I still found this book useful. I taught myself Sketchup and found, comparing my ways with the way Zeh designs which he demonstrates step by illustrates step, that while I had found ways to do what I needed to do, there are more efficient and elegant steps. I could do without the occasional schoolmasterly tone, but the book interestingly explains simple click by simple click and move by move how best to design with Sketchup, in this case a bedside table. I learned a lot. A good investment of my time and money.

A Transmission of Lyrical Truth

I love Mark as a person and writer. I love his poetry and his true humble heart. This book is so magnificent. It feels like a direct transmission of mystery when you read it. I have felt healed, expanded, and inspired reading it. I love that it goes into more width than The Book of Awakening - longer pieces, more flexible structure. My copy is underlined and dog eared, and will stay by my side for a long time. A keeper you will want to buy!

This book will lead you on a journey into your own heart, and will teach you new ways to listen to what you discover there. It will challenge you to go about your everyday tasks more fully, with more attention and more intention. I highly recommend to those who seek a deeper, more mindful path.

Being unfamiliar with the author's style of writing, I was pleasantly surprised to see methods for achieving deeper listening. Each section has a reflective pause with practical ways to apply the simple truths in your own life, independently or with others.

A brief introduction to the topic but it lacks in-depth analysis.

There are some basic definitions about gamificaiton. The book discusses the impact of gamification through short (and sometimes repetitive) cases at 3 levels: corporate, employee and customer. IMO, most of the cases were discussed at a superficial level with limited descriptions. DO NOT expect details of how the gamificaiton principles were implemented in most cases (just the results suggesting that it worked).

Intro
Some basic definitions and principles on gamification and engagement.

Corporate level:
Cases of using gamification principles for business strategy
Cases for the strategizing process

Employee level:
Cases for motivating employees (rank and file vs. professional staff)
cases for employee-led innovations
cases for the recruitment process
cases for employee health and fitness trainings

Customer level:
Social marketing
Sustaining long-term customer engagements
Crowdsourcing

Nonetheless, I have some reservations about all the really short 5 stars reviews submitted in early April 2013. Someone suggests that they are part of an early reviewer programme (is that also part of the game!!).

This is must read for business leaders. It should open your eyes.

This book is valuable at two levels. First as an aware consumer we all need to learn how games are being used in so many facets of business to get our attention. The second level is as professionals we need to learn how to use games to increase employee engagement, learning, satisfaction and development. This book delivers both of these. Check out their interactive website at http://gamificationrevolution.co I have read a few earlier books on the topic and many more articles on how to build gaming into business processes. This book pulls much of current thought together. It does not get into how to build the games, but it is a very good resource at the business strategy level. (I see gamification as being very useful at a public and private level). This is must read for business leaders. It should open your eyes.
